Personal Laptops
There are plenty of laptops out on the shelves today and top manufacturers like HP, Acer, ASUS, and Toshiba are selling well because more people prefer doing their work and Internet browsing on the go. Many mainstream models are far more affordable than the models of previous years and they are more powerful as well. But if you have not purchased a laptop back in 2011 and you finally saved up for something new, you should consider checking out what is in store this 2012 because some significant enhancements are brought to laptops across the board.
Laptops - General Overview
2012 is a wonderful year to get a new laptop because early 2011, Intel revealed their 2nd generation of their highly acclaimed Core processors. Also known as the Sandy Bridge architecture, Intel hopes to bring faster processors with better integrated graphics so you can play more games and do tons of productive tasks faster. At the same time, you also enjoy better battery life making this one of Intel's biggest improvements ever since they first introduced the Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors.
HP Pavilion Series Laptops
Intel isn't the only one that is hoping to make it big this 2012. AMD is also on track in tackling the entry-level market with some next-generation notebooks. One of the models that have been making waves is the HP Pavilion dm1z. This 11.6-inch notebook is powered by AMD's new Fusion platform which promises to be faster than Intel's atom in both processing and graphics as well without draining the battery too much. It has a speedy 1.6 GHz processor with an AMD Radeon HD 6310 GPU. The five hour battery life and good sound quality make this one of the best 11.6-inch laptops.
eMachines Laptops
eMachines laptops continue to target those that are on a tight budget. They might not be pushing any new technologies but they are definitely taking advantage of the lower prices of older technologies. That is not a bad thing because these Intel Celeron powered laptops are still powerful enough to handle the latest software such as Windows 7 Home Premium and Microsoft Office Starter 2010. With basic hardware configurations, you can actually go for a larger screen and still pay less than the average netbook. With current models like the eME528-2012, you also get some nice extras like a built-in HD webcam.
Toshiba Laptops
In the world of laptops, Toshiba is most popular for their Satellite brand and they continue to roll out new ones that adopt Intel's newest processors. But Toshiba is doing more than just beefing up the performance because they want their laptops to stand out from the other powerful models. Toshiba's approach is enhanced cooling systems and that is what the R830, R840, and R850 models hope to accomplish. They may look like the older Portege R700 series but models like the R830 use magnesium as the material so they end up being lighter. There are also some new laptops with older hardware but other unique features like the Dynabook Qosmio T750 which has a unique lid that changes color depending on the lighting.
With all this competition going on, it is still the consumers that win. It is all about making a choice that best fits your needs.
